Lucca Comics & Games 2026: What to See as the 60th Anniversary Festival Approaches

Article

Lucca Comics & Games turns 60 this year, under the theme "LEGACY."

Confirmed Programme Highlights

The festival runs October 28 - November 1, 2026 (exhibitions October 3 - November 1). Confirmed sessions include an October 29 screening of "Look Back" introduced by director Hirokazu Koreeda, an October 30 Koreeda masterclass, and Yoshinori Kitase sessions on October 31 (career masterclass) and November 1 (community Q&A), both reservation-required.

A Wide Guest List - Not All on Every Day

The official site lists a large guest roster including Go Nagai, Paru Itagaki, Hideki Kamiya, Yoko Kanno, Frank Miller, and others - but not every guest appears on every day of the festival.

What To Know

A 60th-anniversary "LEGACY" theme, backed by genuinely confirmed sessions with directors like Hirokazu Koreeda and game veterans like Yoshinori Kitase, gives returning Lucca visitors a concrete reason this edition is a milestone, not just another year.

Lucca Comics & Games is one of Europe's oldest and largest comics/games festivals, and a 60th-anniversary theme built around legacy and generational culture reflects how long-running European conventions frame their own milestone editions differently from newer events.
