Japan’s First Permanent Star Wars Official Stores Are Opening in Tokyo and Osaka

日本初の「スター・ウォーズ」オフィシャルストア常設店、池袋と大阪にオープン

Article

Star Wars is getting a permanent home in Japan.

Benelic announced on September 2 that Japan's first permanent official Star Wars stores will open in Tokyo and Osaka under the name STAR WARS STORE by BENELIC.

The first location will open at Ikebukuro PARCO in Tokyo on October 1, 2026. A second store will follow at LUCUA SOUTH in Osaka during November.

Japan's First Permanent Official Star Wars Store

Japan has hosted temporary Star Wars pop-up shops before, including a limited-time STAR WARS SPECIAL STORE by BENELIC at Ikebukuro PARCO earlier in 2026.

What changes now is permanence.

Benelic describes the new stores as Japan's first permanent Star Wars official stores, creating dedicated spaces where fans can regularly experience the franchise rather than visiting only during limited campaigns.

The stores are being launched ahead of the 50th anniversary of Star Wars in 2027.

What Will Be Inside?

The concept is designed to make visitors feel as though they are entering a galaxy far, far away.

The stores will carry a wide range of official Star Wars merchandise. Benelic also says some products will be customizable, adding an experience-based element beyond ordinary retail.

Further information about the merchandise lineup and store interiors will be announced later.

Ikebukuro and Osaka

STAR WARS STORE by BENELIC Ikebukuro PARCO will be located on the sixth floor of the main building at Ikebukuro PARCO, 1-28-2 Minami-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo. It opens October 1, 2026, with planned hours of 11:00–21:00, subject to the facility's operating schedule.

The Osaka store will open at LUCUA SOUTH 12F, LUCUA Characters World, 3-1-1 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka, during November 2026, with planned hours of 10:00–20:00, subject to the facility's operating schedule. An exact November opening date has not yet been announced.

Why This Matters for Japanese Fandom

Star Wars is an American franchise, but it has maintained a deep and long-running relationship with Japanese audiences, design culture, toys, collectibles, cinema, and fandom.

A permanent official-store presence in Tokyo and Osaka gives that fandom a new physical base.

It also reflects a broader shift visible across Japanese pop culture: major franchises are increasingly building permanent spaces where fans can shop, gather, and experience a fictional world beyond the screen.

What To Know

Japanese Star Wars fans have long had access to pop-ups and limited-time merchandise events, but a permanent official store changes the experience. Fans will have dedicated Star Wars destinations in two of Japan's biggest cities rather than waiting for temporary events.

Japan has a strong culture of character stores and permanent branded retail spaces, especially in major commercial hubs such as Ikebukuro and Osaka Station. The arrival of permanent Star Wars stores places the franchise inside that distinctly Japanese fan-retail ecosystem.
