Nintendo Switch 2 Nears 20 Million Global Sales Milestone
Nintendo Switch 2、世界累計販売2,000万台に迫る
Article
Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 19.86 million units worldwide as of the end of Nintendo's fiscal year in March 2026 — comfortably beating the company's own 19-million full-year sales forecast, and putting the console within reach of the symbolic 20-million mark.
A Launch That Outpaced the Original Switch
In Japan specifically, Famitsu reported 947,931 units sold within the console's first four days on sale — nearly triple the original Nintendo Switch's Japan launch total of 329,152 units. Japan's cumulative sales reached approximately 5.9 million units by early June 2026, putting Japan and the rest of the world at near-parity in adoption pace.
A Price Increase Alongside the Milestone
Nintendo raised the Switch 2's price in Japan from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980, effective May 25, 2026, a change the company attributed to market conditions; the increase reportedly prompted a buying surge ahead of the effective date. Other regions are set to see their own price increases starting September 1, 2026.
What To Know
A console approaching a 20-million milestone within roughly a year of launch, alongside a same-year price increase, is a significant enough moment in the global gaming market that it goes beyond routine sales reporting — it reflects both extraordinary demand and a real cost change for consumers.
