39th Tokyo International Film Festival: October 26-November 4 in Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza

Article

One of Asia's largest film festivals has confirmed its 2026 dates, running across some of central Tokyo's most recognizable districts.

Dates and Venues

The 39th Tokyo International Film Festival runs October 26 (Monday) through November 4 (Wednesday), 2026 — ten days — across its traditional venue areas of Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza.

TIFFCOM 2026

The festival's co-located industry content market, TIFFCOM 2026, runs separately from October 28 through 30 at Tokyo Trade Center's Hamamatsucho building — a distinct, industry-facing event from the main public festival.

What To Know

TIFF is a genuinely major international film event happening right in central Tokyo, and it fills a real gap in TBM's coverage — film hasn't been a focus area so far, but for fans whose interest in Japan spans beyond anime into Japanese and international cinema, a 10-day festival across some of Tokyo's most walkable central districts is a real reason to plan a visit around.

TIFF's venue spread across Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza reflects how the festival is woven into Tokyo's most central, upscale business-and-shopping districts rather than a single dedicated convention hall — meaning attending it doubles naturally as time spent in some of Tokyo's most iconic central neighborhoods.

What Fans Are Saying

  • "10 days is a solid stretch to actually catch multiple screenings."
  • "Love that it's spread across such walkable central Tokyo neighborhoods."
  • "Waiting on the official selection announcement."
