Article
Portland's biggest anime weekend is back this November, and this year's headline guest comes from the VTuber world rather than the usual voice-actor or illustrator lineup.
A Weekend at the Oregon Convention Center
Kumoricon 2026 runs November 13-15, 2026, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon - the convention's home venue, located at 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
VTuber PorcelainMaid Headlines as Guest of Honor
Kumoricon has confirmed VTuber PorcelainMaid as its 2026 Guest of Honor. PorcelainMaid is a character designer and content creator who describes themselves, in character, as a soul trapped inside the body of a doll - and, more plainly, as someone drawn to "anything creatively inclined," spanning art, games, and storytelling.
Cosplay Cabaret, Maid Café, and the Weekend's Programming
The convention's Cosplay Cabaret returns for 2026, with Cherry, Venus, and Dolly confirmed as emcees alongside an open cosplay contest. Other announced programming includes a Maid Café, VIP add-on packages (Early Access, a Swag Bag, and an Autographs package), and an after-party on November 15.
Registration and Access
Pre-registration is open now. As of this writing, full-weekend badges for ages 13+ are in the "Ghost Neko" pricing tier at $95 through November 7, with at-the-door pricing of $100 after that; ages 6-12 are $35 at every current tier. Single-day passes are available at-the-door only. Several hotels, including the Hyatt Regency Portland directly across the street, sit on the MAX light rail's Red, Green, and Blue lines. The Oregon Convention Center also offers an AFK ("Away From Kumo") quiet room, gender-neutral restrooms, and dedicated accessibility and ADA registration desks.
A Fast-Growing Pacific Northwest Convention
Kumoricon drew a record 12,304 attendees in 2024, its highest attendance on record and up from 11,729 the year before - historical attendance figures, not a 2026 projection. The convention has grown almost every year since its 2003 founding, when it drew 419 attendees.

What To Know
Kumoricon has grown into one of the Pacific Northwest's largest anime gatherings, and booking a VTuber as this year's top Guest of Honor shows how directly that Japan-rooted performance format now travels to overseas fan conventions as a headline draw, not just a streaming-side niche.
VTubers build on a performance format that originated in Japan, blending character design with live, improvised hosting - PorcelainMaid's own self-description leans into that same character-first tradition, giving overseas fans a direct line to a format most of them first encountered through Japanese streamers.
