A new Gundam television anime is coming in April 2027.

A New Cross-Media Project

Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO is part of the new "RG Project," a Gundam cross-media initiative connecting animation and games inside one shared universe.

Kenji Kamiyama serves as director and series composer, with SOLA ANIMATION handling animation production.

One World, Two Timelines

The anime shares its universe with the new action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, which is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam on March 5, 2027.

Rather than simply adapting the game, the RG Project is designed to tell different parts of one larger history from different perspectives. The anime takes place roughly 100 years before the game and establishes the beginning of that shared world.

Director Kamiyama has also confirmed that RG XARX-ZERO takes place in its own original timeline rather than an existing Gundam chronology.
