A song from 1963 is being reinterpreted through hand-drawn animation and gallery art in Shinjuku.

"AC-bu Exhibition 2026: Ashita ga Aru-Q" opens September 9 at Isetan Shinjuku's Main Building 6F art gallery, running through September 22.

From Song to Animation to Physical Artwork

The exhibition is built around AC-bu's hand-drawn animated music video for Kyu Sakamoto's 1963 song "Ashita ga Aru Sa," created through Universal Music's Re:Re:Re:TUNE project.

Approximately 99 works are on display, centered on newly created giclée pieces derived from scenes in that music video.

AC-bu's Visual World

The exhibition also brings in AC-bu's character "Iruka no Iruka-kun" as part of the same visual world.

Isetan Shinjuku has established gallery and event spaces inside a major urban department store, letting contemporary art sit directly inside everyday city culture.
