A Taiwan Night Market Lands in Hibiya Park, Complete With a Nightly Sky Lantern Release

Yatai Taiwan Fest 2026 (屋台湾フェス2026〜あつまれ！究極の屋台グルメ〜) is running now through Sunday, September 6, at Hibiya Park's Nirenoki Square — its first-ever edition, built around recreating the feel of an actual Taiwanese night market.

Hours vary by day: Thursday, September 3, 4:00-10:00 p.m. (last order 9:30 p.m.); Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th, 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. (last order 9:30 p.m.); and Sunday the 6th, 11:00 a.m.-8:30 p.m. (last order 8:00 p.m.).

The Food

Over 20 stalls serve Taiwanese street food — dumplings, oyster omelettes, scallion pancakes, braised-pork rice, fried chicken, noodles, bubble tea, and shaved ice — priced roughly 500 to 1,500 yen per item.

The Sky Lantern Experience

Every night of the event, visitors can take part in a Sky Lantern Experience: write a wish on a lantern and release it into the night sky. Lanterns cost 4,000 yen each, limited to the first 100 per day; sales open at 6:00 p.m., with release happening around 8:00 p.m. This portion is weather-dependent.

Practical Information

Admission is 500 yen for junior high school age and up (elementary school and younger enter free), and includes a handheld lantern. The venue is a 3-minute walk from Hibiya or Uchisaiwaicho Station. The event proceeds in light rain and cancels only in severe weather.
