Matsuken becomes an anime character
The short anime "Matsuken Anime: Kore Seibai Shite mo Ii desu ka?" began streaming through its official YouTube channel on August 29, 2026.
Its central character, Matsuken, is inspired by actor and performer Ken Matsudaira. Matsudaira voices the animated Matsuken himself, creating a direct connection between the familiar entertainer and the project's new character identity.
Turning everyday frustration into comedy
The series follows Matsuken and his dog companion, Matsu-inu, as they confront the small frustrations and uncomfortable situations hidden in modern everyday life. Instead of treating those problems heavily, the anime resolves them with humour, energy and a theatrical sense of "seibai," or punishment.
Sumire Uesaka voices Matsu-inu, while Daisuke Namikawa performs various other characters appearing throughout the series.
A character IP built for short video
The project presents Matsuken as more than a one-time animated appearance. Its compact YouTube format, recognizable performer and repeatable premise create a character concept that can move between comedy, music and short-form entertainment.

What To Know
The project turns Ken Matsudaira's familiar public image into a repeatable animated character. Its short-video format also makes the series easy to discover and follow through YouTube.
Japanese entertainment often allows a performer, signature song and fictional character to overlap. Matsuken Anime develops that tradition as a contemporary character project designed for online short-form viewing.
