"pop'n music exhibition" Comes to Shibuya: Tokyo Dates, Tickets, and What to Expect

Article

One of Japan's most recognizable arcade rhythm games is getting its own Tokyo exhibition this autumn — here's what to know before you go.

What Is the pop'n music exhibition?

The pop'n music exhibition is a dedicated exhibition themed around KONAMI's long-running pop'n music arcade rhythm game series, running September 18 through October 4, 2026 at Shibuya Modi's 7F Marui no Anime space in Tokyo (a Kyoto venue is also planned separately).

Dates, Hours, and Venue

The Tokyo run is open 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily (select dates, September 29–October 1, close early at 6:00 PM for private events). The venue is Shibuya Modi, 7F Marui no Anime, in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo — a short walk from Shibuya Station.

Tickets

A timed-entry advance ticket is ¥2,000, and a ticket bundled with a private-event pass is ¥4,000. The earlier lottery application period (July 31–August 9) has already closed, with results announced August 14; general advance sales open August 22 at 10:00 AM. Same-day tickets (¥2,200) are also sold at the venue on a first-come, first-served basis when advance inventory remains.

What To Know

pop'n music is one of the defining Japanese arcade rhythm games — its colorful nine-button layout has been a fixture of Japanese game centers since the late 1990s — so a dedicated physical exhibition in Shibuya, rather than just another expo booth, is a rare chance for fans (including overseas ones planning a Tokyo trip) to engage with the series' visual identity and history directly.

Choosing Shibuya Modi's Marui no Anime floor specifically situates this exhibition inside one of Tokyo's established pop-culture retail/event circuits — the same building type used for other anime and game-brand exhibitions — so fans familiar with that venue pattern already know roughly what kind of experience (themed displays, exclusive goods, photo areas) to expect walking in.

What Fans Are Saying

  • "A whole exhibition for pop'n music is honestly overdue — the series has so much visual history."
  • "Shibuya Modi is a solid, easy-to-reach spot for this."
  • "2,000 yen for timed entry is very reasonable."
