Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Manga Resumes Today After a Nine-Month Health Hiatus
『地縛少年花子くん』連載再開——作者あいだいろ氏、病気療養からの復帰
Article
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is back. After nine months away, the manga behind one of the more distinctive supernatural-school anime of the last few years resumed serialization today.
Why the Manga Went on Hiatus
Creator AidaIro paused the series starting with the November 2025 issue of Monthly G Fantasy after needing medical treatment. No further chapters ran during that time, leaving the ongoing story on hold.
The Return, Straight From the Creator
AidaIro announced the comeback personally, posting that the September issue — on sale August 18 — would mark serialization resuming, and thanking readers for their continued support. The series has sold over 10 million copies and continues in English through Yen Press, whose 24th volume released this past July.
What To Know
This isn't just a chapter drop — it's the end of nine months of genuine uncertainty for a fandom that didn't know when, or whether, the story would continue while its creator recovered, so today's return carries real emotional weight beyond an ordinary new-chapter release.
Japanese manga magazines typically hold a series' spot open during a creator's health hiatus rather than replacing them, and fans generally respond with patience and support rather than pressure for faster output — a norm reflected in how openly AidaIro was able to communicate the reason for the break and the return date directly to readers.
What Fans Are Saying
- "So relieved to see AidaIro back and okay enough to keep drawing — take all the time you need, just glad you're here."
- "Nine months felt like forever, genuinely didn't know if we'd get more of this story."
Original Japanese
- 「あいだいろ先生、お帰りなさい。無理せず頑張ってください」
